What a fantastic season we had! The Ruffed Grouse number’s this year were up so we were able to have great dog work and shoot allot of grouse. The attached photo is of Timberdoodle Silver Trigger just shy of 5 months with her first pointed ruffed grouse. I was in a position down a hill and could see her come in and lock on point! I was able to get a shot and down it came, somehow that first bird shot over a puppies point that you bred makes you smile all day! We were able to hunt quite a bit this past season with pups out of our spring 2012 litter and we were thrilled at the bird work that we did see. We were also able to shoot a sharptail grouse over Trigger a month later on our Manitoba hunt! We sure were proud of that pup!

What a fantastic hunting season it’s been! Grouse numbers were up this year so grouse camp was a huge success! Lot’s of friends, great dog work, fantastic food and of course grouse and woodcock in the bag! We were able to take a trip to Manitoba, Canada to visit with some wonderful friends and to enjoy their upland and waterfowl hunting! We had such a fantastic time! Many memories of hunting in new areas and gorgeous country. Then after a few days of deer hunting at home we headed west to chase ringnecks around. It’s been a great hunting season so far!  Lot’s and lot’s of bird contact for the weimies and of course we’ve been deer hunting quite a bit.  Both Matt & I have taken bucks this season, mine was taken with my cross bow and Matt took a HUGE trophy buck  out back with his rifle.  This being said we never run our dogs in any events in the fall,  I feel that with as much wild bird contact as they’ve had they will not have a competitive run in events.   So I will say now,  never say never!! Ahh Waterfowl! It’s been a great season so far! We’ve been hunting waterfowl in between upland and we have had a bang up year so far! We just came home from Manitoba where we had a ball visiting friends and waterfowl was amazing this year. The weather cooperated and we saw tons and tons of ducks and geese! Dogs did us proud once again both on upland and on waterfowl. We had one of our Henri x Royal pups with us and we were able to get Trigger on some sharptail grouse and Matt was able to drop one that Trigger pointed that had run roughly 20 yards up ahead of her. We were so proud of that girl, not bad for a pup just 6 months old! That was Trigger’s second grouse as I was able to shoot a ruffed grouse over her point and she was just 5 months old then, a super nice litter of puppies! [Read more…]

I am proud to announce the results of our Riley x Velvet litter that recently ran their NAVHDA Natural Ability tests. We tested 6 of our 8, 2009 puppies in August 2010 and they really did their parents & us proud!!
